My parents have been pretty good about all of this. Part of the reason is because they saw my development as a writer within the church. And because of my other degrees and earlier career, it was easy for them to see that this was not a flippant decision based on vanity or some foolish thoughts of fame. I believe they can see this is what I was meant to do with my life.

So in the end, my answer is that my mother loves me and supports my goals in life. Of course, this doesn't mean she doesn't want me to have success, stability, a wife and children also...

But her love and support in my life still far outweighs the amount of pressure I get from her to follow a conventional path.
